Rubbing It In

Just so you know, it's snowing here in Alexandria, VA. And it's gorgeous. The view out my window looks like one of those kitschy snowglobes we all know and love. Perfectly white snow falling gracefully from the sky and "flocking" the few green trees left. There's a bit of a Christmas village feel to one part of the neighborhood. Love it.

Won't love it as much when I have to go to work in the morning, trudging through what will probably be a partially melted slushy with out all the sugary goodness. But for now, as I sit in my warm and toasty living room typing on my warm and toasty laptop, it's awesome.

You Killed Pluto! You Bastard!

PopSci Blog has an interesting entry on Mike Brown, the man who killed Pluto, and his latest lecture, "How I Killed Pluto and Why It Had It Coming."

A moment of silence please for Dwarf Planet Pluto. sniffle.

For the Ladies

I know you've been in mourning for some time, rending your clothes and making liberal use of sackcloth and ashes as you await my return. Well, put your fancy dress on girls, because Melinda is single and available once again. Just give me a little time to heal from the injuries I've received in the Great War for Judy's Heart and I'll be back, a little battle weary but adorable nonetheless.

O Captain! My Captain!

I have been a very, very bad girl. My very good friend Rob celebrated yet another trip around the sun and I forgot to honor the occasion with a blog post. My punishment for this unforgivable crime? A meme.

1. How long does it take you to get ready to leave the house?

about an hour and a half on good days. If I have trouble getting out of bed in the morning, I can do a speed-shower, dress, brush hair and teeth, etc. and get out the door in about a half hour. Of course that means I'm still soaking wet when I leave. In the dead of winter, when it's snowing outside, that is NOT good.

2. If you commute to work or a regularly scheduled meeting, how long does it take you to get there?

From when I leave my house to when I enter my office, about 45 minutes.

3. How much time do you spend watching TV or playing video games each day?

No video games. But I'd say about 3 or 4 hours of TV or watching movies a day on average. It depends on how I'm feeling and lately, I've been feeling like vegging out a LOT.

4. How much time do you spend preparing/acquiring/eating meals on an average day?

I'd say about 1 1/2 to 2 hours. I rarely eat breakfast. Lunch hour at work is 1 hour. Then, dinner kind of varies. Sometimes, I skip dinner. Sometimes, it's microwaveable whatever. Other times, dinner's a phone call away. It depends.

5. How much sleep do you get each day?

Somewhere around 5 or 6 hours a night.

6. Time for to tag: Stacey, The Duck, You

Nerdtastic Goodies

Star Trek Comics in Klingon

Gamerz the Movie. You'll never see Dungeons and Dragons the same way again! Okay, you probably will. But two things make this movie awesome:
1.) The Scottish accents (though at times a bit confusing)
2.) Hot "elf" with a Scottish accent (Although it's a bit disappointing when she turns out to be... okay, won't spoil it... Let's just say I don't think she's lawful good.)
